Cookie Policy
Effective Date: 31 October 2026 • Compliance Standard: UK PECR & UK GDPR Consent Mode
1. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?
Cookies are small text identifiers stored by your web browser when you visit a website, while HTML5 localStorage provides a sandboxed browser mechanism for saving user interface preferences locally on your device. On britain-trunnion.com, we use a lightweight combination of strictly necessary storage and optional preference identifiers to deliver a responsive, clutter-free catalog experience.
2. Categories of Storage Used on Britain Trunnion
In compliance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR, we classify our storage mechanisms into three transparent categories:
-
Strictly Necessary Storage (Always Active): Essential for recording your Cookie Consent Mode decision (
btt_cookie_consent_v1) so that the consent banner does not repeatedly interrupt your navigation on every page load. - UI & Filter Preferences (Functional): Remembers your chosen game category filters (such as RPG, Sandbox & Puzzle, or Grand Strategy) and interface state during your browsing session.
- Aggregated Telemetry & Performance (Analytical): Helps our Edinburgh engineering team measure anonymized page load timings, WebGL support ratios, and viewport responsiveness across desktop and mobile browsers.
3. Detailed Inventory of Storage Keys
| Identifier / Key | Type | Category | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|---|
btt_cookie_consent_v1 |
localStorage | Strictly Necessary | 12 Months | Stores your granular consent choices (Necessary, Functional, Analytics) and timestamp. |
btt_active_genre_filter |
sessionStorage | Functional | Session | Preserves the active catalog genre filter while you navigate between sections. |
btt_perf_sample |
First-Party Cookie | Analytical | 30 Days | Records anonymized frame-pacing and page load metrics when analytical consent is granted. |
4. Managing or Withdrawing Your Consent
You can modify or withdraw your cookie preferences at any time directly on our website by clicking the Manage Cookie Preferences button in the footer of any page, or by clicking the button below:
Additionally, most web browsers (including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Apple Safari) allow you to inspect, block, or clear site cookies and local storage through your browser privacy settings.
